I'm currently using a 824-960 MHz 15 dBi gain parabolic grid antenna purchased from L-Com and have been for the past few years for 3G service. I've recently upgraded to a new Pantech UML290 though and today connected to my antenna I've picked up a three bar signal to 4G LTE. I've run multiple speed tests to make sure VZAccess Manager wasn't just lieing to me and the speeds are amazing (20-23Mbps down).
I'd now like to check into improving signal more in order to get the best speeds possible and lower the ping and I was hoping one of the direct connect 4G LTE amps sold at 3GStore.com would work with my current antenna even though it isn't 700Mhz. Right now my signal is a RSSI of -79 and SINR holding around 20. Will the Cellphone-Mate 4G LTE CM700V-32 work with an 824-960 Mhz antenna or will it make my signal worse?

| The antenna you have CANNOT be used for boosting the LTE signal, even with the appropriate amplifier. Since the antenna only covers the 824-960MHz frequencies, that's the only signal that will pass through to the UML290 modem. You can view the compatible antennas/amplifiers we have for that modem at 3Gstore. |

Thanks for the info. I did some more testing today and you're correct that it doesn't look like the 824-960Mhz grid antenna I have now is boosting the 4G signal by any measurable amount other than maybe -2 to -5 RSSI compared to using just the UML290's built in antenna. When I unplug the antenna I'm getting around -81 RSSI and when I connect it back I get -75 to -79 RSSI. It does look like the SINR is quite a bit better when connected to the grid antenna though.
Anyhow, I went ahead and ordered an appropriate 746-806 MHz parabolic grid antenna today which is designed specifically for Verizon's 4G LTE so it should give me a big gain in signal I hope. I will wait and see how it works out and then decide about ordering the Cellphone-Mate 700Mhz amp to go along with it. |
