EVDO Prl update help needed...

I posted this in another forum because I need help for myself and a few of my customers.If anyone has an idea....please let me know...Thanks.

I am tired of going through this day in and day out.Each time I talk to someone in tier 2 Evdo support,I get the run around...I am looking for 1 answer and they start asking the same questions I answer every day to a different tech.
I have a Merlin S620 aircard.It jumps between evdo and 1x-rtt service,when it does ..the signal gets locked up and cuts off and then I have to start all over again getting back online.I have had this flagged for an OTA prl update(per Sprint).Told to then do update profile..Did not work.I have been told to go to a store with a tech and they can do an Over The Cable update.Been to 3 different stores...still nowhere.I spent 3 hours on the phone today with them listening to them telling me that evdo only has a prl version on there because Sprint has to have it on there and the EVDO network automatically updates on your card when new towers are added.This comes from the same department that said to do an OTA prl update by getting the card to dial *2...lol...I am just frustrated.My card works fine at 3/4 of the places I use it.Whether it is EVDO or 1X-RTT network.At the other locations,I am between Evdo and 1xrtt and my signal jumps between the 2 types and freezes and then locks up and kicks me off....Someone....anyone.....please help.I am just too frustrated to call Sprint anymore.

How do I get a PRL update done on an aircard?

I've checked into it with tier 2 and Sprint insists that the PRL update is not needed for EVDO cards, only EVDO phones for voice roaming. There seems to be conflicting information. If you can get ahold of the PRL file from a Sprint store, you can update manually yourself... see thread...

BTW, are you running the latest Sprint Connection Manager? See same thread.

You seem to be suffering from the ping-ping effect where your card sees both a 1xRTT and EVDO tower at about same signal strength. I haven't seen a good solution for S620 (I haven't seen it myself). Try newer connection manager or experiment with the NDIS setting in connection manager. An external antenna might help if able to direct towards the EVDO tower.

On the Sierra card, you can force a 1xRTT or EVDO connection. Unfortunately the S620 does not have that yet.

I apprecaite you checking it out.The post you mention is the one I ran across today and downloaded the new connection mgr.I have not been back at home yet in NW In ,I am away on business,but I hope it helps.This is truly a frustrating situation.Thanks for your help.

One other thing...I know you said get the prl file from the store....How would I go about that? What would I ask for?Would they send it to me?None of the stores around me even know what I am talking about for the most part.Is there anywhere you have found them on the web?
