The last time I updated my MBR900, from 1.8.2 to 1.9.0, I had a miserable time re-gaining access to the router. I had tried the Factory Reset, which AFAIK is to plug-in power and use a toothpick to hold the Reset button in for 15-20 seconds, but while this seemed to work (LEDs blinking) I still couldn't find the router. I ultimately tried holding Reset while setting the Rocker switch to ON, and I was finally able to access on 192.168.0.1 with the default MAC 6-last-digits password.

So today I updated from 1.9.0 to 2.0.0 and once again I had trouble re-gaining access to the unit. I'd gotten the "countdown" screen after sending the .bin file and it went to zero and sat there; I'd expected at least a "page not found" since I normally set it to 192.168.1.1 and no doubt if settings get blown then it reverts to 192.168.0.1. But then I change my PC to 192.168.0.1xx and I can't find the router anywhere. I toothpick/reset a half-dozen times or more to no good result. Reboot my PC, verify it's indeed at 0.1xx using ipconfig /all, can't see-or-ping the router. Finally again one of my "rocker switch with toothpick inserted" efforts seems to work.

For next time, WHAT is the preferred method for re-setting the MBR900 modem after a firmware update? I've looked at the CP website and found this, and this is what I've been doing:

How to manually update the firmware of a Series 2 CradlePoint router

I don't use WiMAX--should I be updating that too, regardless? I've left *it* at ancient 4.1.645.

Color me "puzzled" as I seem to be the only one on Earth who has trouble with these updates...

OK nobody knows, or cares. I stand alone.

I did discover that 2.0.0 takes-away Email capability (the Release Notes say nothing of this!) and I reverted to 1.9.0 again. Again, lotsa trouble, again, thought I'd bricked it for a while, but it eventually came-back.

Thank you Dave, better late than never I guess!

I've been doing this wrong all along--I don't know where I'd gotten my original procedure but the link is way different. Next time I'll do it right, if there is a "next time"!

Oddly, when you search on Factory Reset for the MBR900 that link only shows-up on Page 3.

Thanks again.

P.S. and BTW I can now say with complete authority: It is VERY DIFFICULT (or maybe impossible) to "brick" an MBR900 router! I really did poke-and-plug the heck out of mine and it still survived!
