I bought my CTR35 from 3G Store in 2010. The firmware is V3.0.4.
It has worked flawlessly with an AT&T Ovation Modem.
I've upgraded the modem to a Sierra Wireless U313 from AT&T.

I've downloaded firmware V 3.6.3 from the CP website and attempt a manual firmware upgrade. After trying for a minute or so, the router returns a notification box that simply says "Firmware Upgrade Error [OK]"

What can I do?

Call Cradlepoint support.

When your firmware was made, Cradlepoint had a looney idea of charging for firmware updates. Your very early firmware was "branded" to work only with your particular MAC address and will not allow something to be loaded that isn't specially built for your Mac address. Fortunately, they realized the error of this idea and once you get a 'unbranded' version installed you'll be fine.

I would suggest you send them an email explaining the situation and giving them your serial number and mac address. They should be able to get a unbranded firmware file to you fairly quickly. 'support@cradlepoint.com' should work to reach them.

Bill,

send an email to support(at)3gstore(dot)com with your details. I believe you have to upgrade to a slightly older version first, then you will be OK to upgrade to the latest. fcs is correct about how they were going to charge for firmware and then aborted that idea.

If my memory serves me correctly you'll need to get firmware build 3.0.7 in order to unlock the proprietary firmware.

This will then allow you to jump to 3.2.1 build then you should be able to go all the way to 3.6.3

Thank you, Michael

CP responded within a day and sent me a signed copy of the base firmware. I was then able to upgrade to the current version and my new modem works great.
