Besides a USB EVDO modem being needed in the US marketplace, here is another free idea for any manufacturer to make a killing.

Create a ExpressCard/34 module that includes a PCMCIA adapter.

You plug the ExpressCard/34 into the PCMCIA adapter and you can then insert into any PCMCIA slot (laptop, KR1, etc.). Customers that upgrade to a laptop in the future that has an ExpressCard, can remove the PCMCIA adapter and be left with an ExpressCard/34 module to insert into their laptop.

Existing customer will probably want to purchase a device that they don't have to throw away when they upgrade their laptop (or have to purchase a new device). With the carriers having a strategy of locking customers in with 2 year contracts, this would give customers a built-in upgrade option, without having to purchase a new EVDO card.

If any manufacturer likes this idea, feel free to "borrow" the idea, your only cost is send me an evaluation unit when you have completed them Smile

Imagine, a device like the one mentioned AND a USB EVDO modem, wow!
