I searched shopping.yahoo and froogle and could only find one ExpressCard available, a 1Gbit ethernet card. Searching amazon, only one book comes up about the technology. It's that new.

Good news out there for those looking for a solution to their EVDO + ExpressCard woes. I work with an online retailer and we are currently working with Duel Systems (duel-systems.com) who has a working prototype of an ExpressCard to PCMCIA adapter (meaning you could use your existing card in a PCMCIA slot). The downside is that the ETA is still a couple months coming (end of May-ish). The bright side is that my contact has stated that it should boast universal capabilities (not a respecter of EVDO cards). So, we'll be excited to release those. The developing team has also expressed an interest in using us to find beta testers, so if anyone has an extreme desire and a good technical background (and doesn't mind the inherant potential risk of beta testing hardware), feel free to drop me a line at lewis@sewelldirect.com

Here's an interesting option that I think hasn't been mentioned on this board (I searched, and the link above is the closest I could find):
http://www.duel-systems.com/products/adapters.aspx
This is an adapter that accepts current PCMCIA cards (e.g. Kyocera KPC650), allowing you to plug them into the ExpressCard slot of a newer laptop.
For me, this would be ideal: I'd be able to retain the use of my Kyocera KR1 (as I currently have the KPC650), as well as giving me the option of leaving the router at home and bring only the PCMCIA card and adapter on the road.
Dual Systems strongly suggest it would work with these cards, but has anyone tried? They offer tech specs: do they look workable?
