|
|
I would love to get EVDO on my Pocket PC running Windows Mobile 2003 (equiped with Compact Flash expansion slot, and serial plug-in). I know that Verison has a Pocket PC that runs with an internal EVDO card. I'm not looking for gaming or anything really fancy here, just the abilty to download email attachments and view not-so-small web pages at a reasonable speed.
What I'm wondering is if anyone knows of a CF version of the EVDO PC cards, or has tried a CF to PC adapter like this one?
Advice, suggestions, concerns about battery life on a handheld device? |

I would really like to find out if this works or not.
In theory it should. But just like we found that some PCI PCMCIA adapters work and some do not, it depends on the PC that you are using.
So, if you do try it, be sure there is an option to return it, if it doesn't work. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

After thinking about this, I don't think that this will work without drivers for the Pocket PC that drive the EVDO PC Card.
I will send an email to my contacts at Sierra Wireless and see what they have to say. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

Michael,
Thank you very much it is greatly appreciated. The lack of obvious PC card adapters for my handheld is unfortunate and an area that I neglected to research when purchasing the device. |

Here is the response direct from Sierra Wireless:
| Quote: | No we don't and the reason is that most PPC devices are 16 bit parallel
interface and the AC580/PC5220 is Cardbus 32-bit interface. |

| Do you think this will work with a Dell Laptop with a CF slot? |
