| I'm still on December's firmware on a UML290 in a Verizon 4G area with a CTR500. Is there any downside to updating the firmware if I'm running perfectly fine right now? Thanks. Also, considering an upgrade to MBR95..... |

Do upgrade to the latest XxxX.230 version. It works and helped a lot. No problems here. I'm glad I upgraded.

I am still using xxxx.230 because there were problems reported with xxxx.242. Some folks even said they had as failures of the UML290 with xxxx.242.
My Rule 1, if everything is working well do NOT upgrade your software just to have the latest and greatest.

We are heading out to dinner now but I would put it on a CD and mail it to you.
It's 58 million bytes and I don't have anything to upload it with or I would.
You can send me a private message with you postal address OR do you know how I could upload it to you.
BTW, it's ver xxxx.230 I am talking about.

A friend told me that MAYBE my gmail.com email account would do it. Do you have any place for me to send it? I could give it a try.

It's about 15 MB Just go to folder C:\Program Files\Verizon Wireless\Firmware Updates\Pantech\ . You'll see file L0290VWB333F_230.exe there. That is file I need. My email grotesk5 @ gmail.com
Other way: Go please on depositfiles.com and upload file. You''ll receive download link after uploading. |

I haven't installed VZAM in order to extract the firmware file, but I've uploaded the VZAM version 7.6.3.4 package here...
http://bcbj.org/uml290/VZAM_7.6.3.4_2642j_PantechLTE.exe
This should include the .230 update.
I have a couple of other versions as well, including the utility to downgrade from .230 to .216. Let me know if you need those.
Cheers, |

Thanks for your offer but my setup is working to perfect to change it and I mean when I am either in a 3G/4G and/or when I am in a 3G only area.
I checked my setup again and I have VZAM 2.6.3.5 (2642k) which is xxxx.230 and Ver 1.8.2 in my Cradlepoint (actually I thought I had Ver 1.9.0 in my MBR1000 router).
Best regards,

grotesk,
Glad you got it from dmc271.
Now I am confused as to why I have xxxx.230 firmware in the UML290 and VZ Access Manager 7.6.3.5 on my desktop to connect when the modem is connected directly to the PC (no router).
That must mean 7.6.3.5 is Firmware Ver xxxx.242. Is it???
I'm confused.

JerryF: I'm with you about not upgrading. Actually, I'm still running the .214 version that came with the modem when I first bought it last January! I'm in a fixed location, so it's locked into LTE-only mode. If it were possible to downgrade the firmware, and if I had a UPS, I'd probably be more willing to experiment. |

Where can I get the utility to downgrade the firmware on the UML290?
Thanks. Sorry if I jumped in |

To clear up my own confusion I directly connected my Pantech UML 290 modem to my laptop. My router was not connected.
The modem diagnostic page said that I had Verizon Access Manager Version 7.6.3.5 Build 2642K.
It also said that my Pantech UML290 #2 has firmware version L0290VWB222F.230
