I have used Verizons service for the last several months with a DELL Inspiron 5100 and had decent results.. At my home location the signal strength is about 30% and 60% with an external antenna booster.

I am trying out a new Dell Inspiron 9300 (bigger notebook) and my signal strength dissapears down to 0 without the external antenna and is the same 60% with the external antenna.

Is is possible that the 9300 notebook is somehow interfering with the signal?

BTW.. The green light is flashing on the V620 card... even without the antenna and the strength reading 0.

Any information on comments would be appreciated.

Thanks,

George

Hello,

have you tried rotating the laptop around in different directions to see if you get the same results? How about moving it to a different location in the same place, same results?

It sounds like the laptop is indeed blocking signal, but try moving it around a bit to see for sure.

I am having the same issue, I was wondering if you have found a resloution to this problem. Basically what I'm thinking is that the 9300 is causing interference with the card. I hope you found a resolution I would love to get this to work correctly.

Unfortunately I never found a solution.

I have observed that even with a no-bar signal I am able to get out at speeds of 300-500 kbps..

That made me think that maybe it was softare/hardware related.. however when I hook up an external antenna to the EVDO card.. I do get 2-3 bars of signal.

Even though it is not optimal I have not seen it hamper my operations.. anywhere there is a decent signal, I get most all bars and full speed.

In the few cases where signal is weak and I can get away with it, I use an external antenna.

Sorry.. I did not have anything else but if you find out something please let me know.

George
