PostPosted: Thu Mar 25, 2010 8:30 pm    Post subject: Help - MMO Game

Sorry if this is the wrong place for posting my issue.

I tend to be a little computer ignorant, recently I've encountered a situation when trying to play a specific game, Asheron's Call.

Basically I can't patch the game or update it, I lose connection to the server when I attempt doing so. I figured the issue had to be through my internet seeing as how my firewall isn't blocking the program.

I recently emailed the corporation who runs the game about my issue, I received this in response, "

Thank you for contacting Turbine Technical Support. Please note that
cellphone and "AirCard" (wireless provider broadband) modem connections are unsupported methods for connecting to the game. As a test are you able to connect under a "wired" connection (or a standard "wireless") if only to eliminate the cellular modem as a possible cause of the blocked/dropped connection?

Most likely the device does not support the games connection method (Encrypted UDP Packets on ports 9000 to 9013 using "Loose UDP Routing" which is sometimes referred to as "Asymmetrical Packet Routing) and it is dropping return packets from the servers coming back to your PC and the connection is timing out.

You may be able to contact the cards manufacturer in regards to the games connection and the issues that are occurring, they may be able to suggest configurations or settings changes that can better enable the connection."

If anyone has any suggestion to anything I might attempt to get around this issue, please let me know. Thanks.

Are you using your aircard via a mobile broadband router or are you connecting your aircard directly to your computer?

It's a UM150, it's connected directly to my computer.

Also I tried playing another peer-peer game and I got this

"Your internet connection is behind a Port-Restricted Cone NAT Router that may prevent you from connecting to some players in peer-peer games."

I'm not understanding. I called my ISP and they said no ports are closed, they don't close these specific UDP ports.

Sounds to me like your NAT is set to Strict. I would disable windows firewall for gaming on evdo. I use a um150 also on xbox live.
