I live just a couple miles beyond cable internet, and even farther from DSL. Fixed wireless is a no-go because I would need a 100' tall tower
I have ISDN (128k, low pings) because it is all I can get.
I recently got a cell repeater, so now my cell signal is good.
I played with dialup via my Motorola VE-20, and it worked, but wasn't the fastest plus the latency.
I recently got a PHS300, and I love the thing. The connection seems faster and more reliable than computer based dialup.
I saw where one of the cradlepoint routers does load balancing. Will one of them support being connected to my ISDN (which already does NAT, and I'm not sure if I can have it NOT do NAT), to my cell phone, and maybe to a second phone depending on if my wife gets a blackberry or not?
Practically speaking, will I see a reasonable speed out of my ISDN and 2 cellular combination? Would it help with streaming video?
Thanks,
Andy |

Basically yes
I think you might be confused on how loadsharing works. This is not a true bonded connection (like what a dual ISDN line is).
How it works is:
Say you connect your ISDN line (or any ethernet based internet connection) then a second (or third) device it does not double your speed, but it will help spread your internet needs across mulitiple connections.
Example: You are downloading a file on your computer, by downloading that file you are basically saturating one of your internet connections. If you attempt to access something else (say surf) that traffic will head out a secondary connection. It is especially handy if you have multiple computers. One person is not easily able to slow down your entire network.
What this does not do is double the rate that your file downloads. |

However, that will not help with video streaming (if that is the only thing that is going on).
In order to spread up video streaming, you need to have hardware not only on your end, BUT the other end of your internet connection as well - that is the only way to "reassemble the video stream". _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |
