I am sorta new to this form, I am looking for tips and tweaks to get the most out of my CTR350 and UM175 on the Verizon network. After vising speedtest.net I figured I could use some help, see my results and let me know what I can do to get more outa the rig
Thanks....... |

| Sounds like an antenna might help you, check out this site to do a site survey: http://www.3gstore.com/rssi and then call 3gstore to recommend some equipment. |

Ya it's crazy, and I have not been able to duplicate it??
OK so back to square one, my RSSI now is a consistent -50 +- 3 and nothing better in the results category??
Is there some tweak that will increase my performance, or some tweak to the OS that will make better use of what's available......
A closer server

| Check out EVDOinfo.com's Tip Of The Week. Each week they publish tips for EVDO devices, which include the CTR350. |

| Dave, Your 3.3 mb/s has to be an error. I believe the theoretical limit for 3G is 2.4 mb/s. |

I have know doubt that it was an error, thanks.
Thanks for the tip of the week link some good info there
Let me toss out this question, it would appear that my average speed is going to be in the 0.62mb/s or better, I'm guessing I'm on one of Verizon's 1xrtt towers, I'm not sure if we have a EVDO tower close by, so my question if I invest in the ARC freedom indoor antenna will I see a marked improvement?? I understand all the conditions and all that make it variable, but if I could consistently hit 1.2mb/s I would be happy. |

Luckily, this is an easy question to answer before making an investment in signal-boosting equipment!
first, check out this article and determine how to find your RSSI (scroll down in the article to see screenshots of where to find your RSSI): Will an Antenna Help Me?
Once you know where to find your RSSI, do some quick testing and let us know the answers to the following questions:
1) What is your RSSI inside?
2) What are your speedtest.net results at that location?
3) What is the best RSSI you can find outside?
4) At that location outside with the best RSSI, what are your speedtest.net results?
5) If the signal outside isn't significantly better than it is inside, walk/drive in the direction of better signal until you find a solid -80 signal. At that location, what are your speedtest.net results? How far away is that -80 signal?
Let us know the answers to these questions (you can post them here, or email us, or call us at 866-3GSTORE) and we'll help you pick out the right gear! |
