First let me say I am on 1.07 firmware.

So I just provisioned my Overdrive today, but already I have the following problem:
When I want to shut off the device, I hold down the power button and the screen immediately shifts to "...powering down" message... but then it just hangs and doesn't actually power down. The only way then to get it off is to pull the battery.

Are others experiencing this same problem? I've seen other mentions of "lock up" but am curious if this power down issue is common.

Haven't seen that one. Sierra Wireless needs to get its act together with this device, and rather quickly. Mine's been disappointingly slow and unstable, particularly when using with an iPhone (yes, I have 1.07 installed). I check here every day for news about another firmware update, but the Overdrive forum seems to be getting quieter and quieter.

Can you tell I'm frustrated?!

Hello, we added another OverDrive to our testing environment and are seeing this exactly on this unit stuck on "Powering off...". Firmware 1.07. Did a shutdown by pressing the power button down for a few seconds. Appears to be stuck in this mode - never powers off. Battery pull only solution.

Haven't tried a power down for the GUI.

I will add this to the "OverDrive issues list " if not already there.

I ran out of time and couldn't take any chances on potential resolutions, so I processed a return for my OD yesterday. Too bad--great concept and form factor, horrible user experience (at least at this point).

I am experiencing the same problem with powering off. At first Sprint suggested that my device was faulty and sent me a new one. However, the brand new device had the exact same problem. So this is Sierra Wireless issue, not Sprint issue. Sierra Wireless needs to take a look at powering off problem, fix the bug, and release a new firmware update.

My 1st and 2nd Sprint Overdrives behaved the same way. I held the on/off button until the device powered off. Took about 6 seconds. This only worked 2 out of 3 times so far.

I have contacted Sierra Wireless many times, and several weeks ago they had a new firmware update for Overdrive. They said they are aware of what people were writing about Overdrive problems, and worked on fixing it. They told me the new firmware fixes all the issues. Happily (and naively) I was hoping that is the case - but having installed the new firmware, I am sorry to report that very little got fixed. The Overdrive powers on somewhat faster - it used to take about a century to turn on. Now it takes half a century to turn on. But powering off issue is still here, and random disconnects are still here.

This is just about the worst dog of equipment I have ever owned.
