Cradlepoint has officially released firmware version 1.6.9 for the MBR1000/MBR900/CTR500/CBA250/CBA750 routers.
The biggest thing this new version provides is support for the U301. Other new modems that are now supported include:
# Pantech UMW190 for Verizon
# Pantech UM185 for Cricket
# Sierra Wireless 305 USB (AKA "Lightning") for AT&T
# Sierra Wireless 306 USB for AT&T and Telus
# Ubee PXU1900 for CLEAR
# ZTE MF668 for Rogers
The new firmware also provides bug fixes, such as solving the Blackberry compatibility issues that have been plaguing users since RIM released their OS 5.0, and a couple new features, including "Aggressive Modem Reset".

Just chiming in to say that our BB 8330 now works on the MBR - 900..
upgraded the firmware, tethered it, and was successful connecting all 4 PCs/Laptops to the router!
Thanks for the update Maureen, and thanks to Cradlepoint for resolving this issue..

| Very nice... seems to work well so far in the last couple hours with the 306 Aircard on Telus. No disconnects, nothing that requires a power cycle and the signal meter works! |

Just installed the new firmware. Everything seems to work just fine (i.e., same as before).
The one thing I do notice though is the signal strength % and dBm are now reading lower than before (1.6.2). While it used to hover around 60%/-80dBm, it now hovers around 40%/-100dBm . I checked right before and right after f/w update.
If I connect the modem (598U) directly to a computer, the Sprint SmartView software says -71dBm steady, just like before.
While I guess it doesn't really make a difference, it would be nice if the MBR900 displayed more "real" numbers.
I tend to believe the SmartView numbers of the MBR's, since I did a test at speedtest.net and got 1.6Mbps down/.46Mbps up with 109ms ping. From experience I'm not able to get those kind of results with a bad signal.

| Any firmware update to allow the Sierra Wireless USB 598 with GPS (Verizon ODI Certified) to work properly with the MBR 1000 and show correct GPS coordinates? |

| What exactly is the issue? Can you provide more information since I don't believe we have heard of an issue with GPS and 598. |

I also noticed about an hour ago when looking at the modem page there was no info displayed at all, as if the modem wasn't plugged in.
On the status page, it showed the signal strength bars as well as the uptime and connect/disconnect buttons, but no network info.
This was showing up just fine 16 hours earlier (last time I checked it), and no reboot of the router had happened in the mean time, nor any problems with the modem according to the MBR900 log.
Despite this, the internet connection was still working fine.
I power cycled the router and the missing info came back. I'll check it again later to see if it goes away again.
This had never happened using the 1.6.2 fw. |

I have issues with the 598 GPS too, but I'm thinking that's due to using a grid antenna on it.
It shows my location being a few miles north and a mile or two east of actual location. The antenna is pointed NW.
I don't use the GPS function at all, so it doesn't bother me, but it was something I just happened to notice a few weeks ago.
Edit: I just checked the GPS function again last night, and this time it was almost spot on. Just 150 feet or so to the south of actual location. |

Did you previously load any firmware from the Beta forum?
If you did, how about giving it a CTRL-F5 to make sure you didn't cache something in the browser.
Always a good quick check. |

r0guenj,
Since you are a CP Beta Tester this is most likely an issue of your browser caching that image. Flush your browser's cache and it should go away. |

| Over my first few days of use (MBR1000, firmware v1.6.9, USB767 on Verizon), I'm having a strange issue where the router periodically loses my internet connection but keeps the WiFi connection to the router. When I go to 192.168.0.1, it prompts me for the router password, but first appears to have been reset, as it is looking for the characters of the MAC address that are the default one. When I type them OR my configured password in, neither works. If I try several times in a row, it eventually "remembers" that it is configured, and accepts my configured password. I then need to System/Reboot to get the internet connection to work again. In summary, it is like periodic amnesia, for lack of a better way of describing what is happening. |
