I just downloaded the SSV 2.28 on my win7 laptop. I tried to connect with my u727 plugged in but the SSV did not connect? When I click on the SSV icon it comes up but when I hit connect nothing happens. Also when I go to the top right menu of the SSV and click on File the SSV disappears? My u727 works great in my mbr-1000 but when I insert it into a usb port on this win7 machine I get nothing?
Any tips or tricks? I did run and install this file as administrator.
thanks, barney

This was a clean install. I downloaded it from the Sprint site. There was't anything to uninstall?

Does SmartView indicate "No Devices Available" or does it just say "Ready" after you click connect?

After i downloaded SSV it was installed (wth no modem inserted) I rebooted the machine. I bring up the SSV, then insert my u727, and when i click connect nothing happens. I get nothing after that. Does not say Ready or No devices Available? Thanks for the replies.

Started SmartView......went to tools at top and clicked on Tools and everything disappeared. SSV went away. I checked the hidden Icon tab in the system tray but SSV was gone?

Go to:

Control Panel (View: Large Icons) > Network & Sharing Center > Change Adapter Settings. Do you see one of the following connections listed?

3G Connection
PCS Vision
Mobile Broadband

These connections will allow you to connect to the Sprint network without the Sprint software. See if you can use on of those connections to connect...

yes I have 3G Connection listed in Network Connections. When trying to connect I get Error 678 message. "The remote computer did not respond. To make sure that server can be reached ping the remote server."

I would do the following in this order:

1. Remove U727
2. Un-install SmartView
3. Restart
4. Verify that everything has been un-installed.
a) Verify all of the 3G connections that were mentioned above are gone
b) Go into Add/Remove Progams (aka Programs & Features in Win7) and verify that anything Sprint/Novatel/MobileBroadband drivers has been removed. If anything remains, un-install & restart again.
5. Disable AV software
6. Right click SmartView install file, run as administrator
7. Restart after install
8. Run Smartview, then insert 727
9. Re-enable AV software

I performed all of the steps above and No Luck !! The SSV just does nothing when I click connect? When I hold my cursor over the connect button it says "connect to Sprint 3g" but when I click on it I get nothing. Tried to go to top and select Tools and the SSV disappears. Gone. I have disabled my AV program and even tried inserting my u727 into different usb ports?

Do you have a different computer that you could try installing SmartView on to see if it behaves the same? It's really starting to sound like a software conflict, and you could spend A LOT of time trying to figure out whats causing it.

Worked fine when I downloaded SSV and installed it on my wifes Vista machine? I did notice that it (SSV) looks different on the Vista machine. More options are showing up. Like the signal strength bar and rev A EVDO available etc. That is not appearing on the win7 machine. Something is definately blocking the complete install. I still have AV disabled on the win7 machine... Anything else I should disable or look for?
