|
|
Excellent forum! I've been a Verizon "National Acces" customer for just over a year. Today I got the V620 so I would have EVDO as the Sierra Wireless 555D was not capable of EVDO. I'm satisfied so far.
My question is has anyone installed a V620 in a desktop with a adapter with any success? I tried to install my 555D with no luck. I read in another forum that desktop success is kind of hit and miss and may have something to do with the motherboard...
Thanks in advance, and I really enjoy this forum!

One of the PCI PCMCIA adapters that I had did not work in my HP Pavillion a 220n. I received comments from a few, that this card worked great in their desktop with the PC 5220 EVDO card (Novatel V620 would probably work if the PC 5220 did).
I tried another card from Amazon/Tiger Direct and that one didn't work either.
So, it is kind of hit or miss with your PC.
Strangely, the PCI card was recognized by XP, inserting the card, it was not recognized.
My guess, is that not enough power is getting to the PCMCIA card via the PCI adapter. The red or green power lights on the card never came on.
Besides the other thread up here, there is more info at:

Thanks for the info Michael. I have the adapter that I tried with my 555D. I'll try it tomorrow with the V620. I can't remember the brand but I will look and post results tomorrow.
