Edit to add: Found the problem; XP doesn't support two separate simultaneous connections, so I could either connect to the U301 or to the MBR1000 and my network. CradlePoint won't give any estimate on when they'll support the U301 (and based on the OP they've already let a month go by, it seems like a low priority for them), and I can't deal with having to constantly unplug/replug the router connection to alternately use the internet and print/access my other 'puters, so I swapped back to a new U300 and got everything working again.

My earlier post, if anyone is interested:
My U300 went south, so Sprint upgraded me to the U301, which unfortunately isn't supported yet. (I spoke with cradlepoint to see if they have a patch or beta, but nothing yet)
So, I can't use the MBR1000 to have my laptop and other computer get online, but I still need to use it to share across the network (access files, use the printer) to be able to connect with my laptop and my other computer I set up internet connection sharing (ICS) on my main desktop machine, but I'm hitting conflicts. Initially I could either see across the network OR I could get on the internet through the ICS, but not both. I played with the IP addresses to try to get them to agree, ( I fed in the IP address to the desktop as the DNS server in the laptop and other computers TCP/IP properties, because setting it to obtain IP address automatically wouldn't even give me pings) and at the moment I can see across the network, and the remote computers can ping out to the web, and tracert works fine, but they can't load web pages or actually get through to the net.
The odd thing is, when I try to load web pages on the remote computers they pull up the CradlePoint router bounce_no_connection page. So it seems either the router is firewalling and blocking the ICS, or I have IP addresses set up wrong.
I suspect I'm just missing one little setting somewhere.
Any suggestions are welcome.
(new firmware which supports the U301 will clear all this up)

|
|
I was in a Sprint store today and went to pickup the new U301 and was under the impression that Cradlepoint has not yet released the drivers to support this device. So I thought that I would have to purchase a router from the Store in order to use the U301 with a wireless router. Guess what they brought out? A Cradlepoint MBR1000 router!
So it appears that cradlepoint has already created a driver that supports the U301. Has anyone heard or seen a driver that's available? I have already emailed Cradlepoint to ask them this too, as I have a CTR500. |

Solution: Launch the Smartview SW and go to Settings/Preferences/Hardware Tab and check the box "Allow simultaneous connections" |

Anyone heard if there was beta firmware for the CTR500 to support the U301?
This U301 has been out there for several months now, I am surprised support has not been added for this popular device. |

CradlePoint has been working on U301 support and we expect to see different models to support it very very soon. Keep in mind, that CradlePoint doesn't release one firmware for all routers, so different CP routers will get support before others... _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

Thanks for your confidence this will be out soon.
I would be willing to test beta software for the CTR500 & U301... and of course provide feedback on the performance.
Guess we will have to wait until Cradlepoint releases it. |

| I did not even think that this would not work on my MBR1000. I just upgraded my compass 597u to the u301. It looks like this has been a issiue since december. Is there any workd on the firmware?????? I can not find the beta file somebody mentioned. I guess i will have to call sprint and reactivate my 597 till this gets worked out. Heck , i would even beta test one if you have one to offer. I live in oklahoma, so if you have nobody here, let me know. |

| Judging by the way the upgrade went on the CTR350, I doubt you want to beta test just yet. People downgraded left and right. Hope they get it right on the CTR500. |

I got mine loaded up (CTR500 & U301). Am on the latest firmware for the U301 card. When I plug it into my USB on my laptop, 4G connects no problem.. I ck Sprint Connection software for updates, says non avail. So I think I am on the latest firmware on the U301.
Works okay, cannot seem to get it connected at 4G. 3G works fine.
Guess that will suffice for now. At least there's some support for the device. |

TypeS,
Go to Modem->Settings and make sure the WiMAX realm is set for Sprint. I suspect this is why you cannot conenct. |

FYI,
If you email Cradlepoint, they will send you the router / modem firmwares that support the U301 on the MBR1200. I am up and running (at least on 3G right now) with this setup. |
