Alrighty. I'm a newbie here. I was referred by a user over at howardforums.com, I've been a member there for a year or two. I just purchased a AirPrime 5220 and am using it on my PowerBook 15.2 inch, with no problems, until now.

My parents went out of town, and I am house sitting for them. Their home is still in the Jacksonville Market (my location is 32073, theirs is 32068). I only get National Access, or so I thought. Every once in a while, and Mac users will understand this. Up in the corner of the finder where its shows number of bars, it will show 3 then drop down to 0. When I click it it will say EVDO and !xRTT is connected. But the internet quits working. basically I think they are either working on the tower, like upgrading it, or I am picking up a tower far away. In which case it is imparing my ability to use the card, with or without BA/EVDO.

Can anyone help me? WDTS won't help me with Mac, so I borrowed a windows laptop and will be taking it back to their house with me tonight. I'm glad WDTS is open 24/7. Maybe I can get a credit or two out of them.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
-Michael

According to Verizon's coverage map, you don't yet get EVDO coverage in that 2nd zip code, so they are either working on it, or more likely, it is seeing the far away EVDO tower and that is causing the problems.

I am going to contact you privately, to try a few things.

Well my Verizon rep said that it isn't possible for it to pick up a tower that far away, we're talking about 15-20 miles before there is a ev-do equipped tower.

It still does not work. It is a problem with the tower, but I couldn't keep the Windows laptop to have them troubleshoot the darn thing with me.

Can anyone offer more advice?

Thanks.
