|

Is the cradlepoint the way to go still?
I have a Pantech UM175 I've been using it with the * with mixed results - has worked well for some home computers - others get dropped all the time. Now in past couple days - all computers get on and off - the net for like 20 second on - 5 minutes off - even the hard wired ones!?!?
Whats with that is the router bad?
Before I send it in for repair or sell it - I want to get a new router where I can return if it this persists with it too.
The UM175 connected direct to USB in any computer works flawlessly... so appears to be router only. It started yesterday so i updated the firmware to teh latest. No help. any ideas?
best deal to buy a cradlepoint? is that the best option with my 175? _________________ PortraNET.com |

Thats weird (why filter other brands?)
The brand is cy fr e or if that is filtered - it's this BACKWARDS
erfyc I bought at alltel local store to be comparible with the UM175.
It's not be very good - I DID ORDER the BRM1000 and can't wait to try it. (ordered it from 3Dstore.com) good price!
I've ordered antennas from 3dstore in the past.

Real life experience.
Had the "ALLTEL" router (200 bucks) they recommend it and sold it and was the only one that they sold that would work they said with my UM175.
PAIN TO SETUP took days and phone called on hold to Alltel. Worked - most of the time - many times NOT SO MUCH. Lately - became worse... more down than up.
UM175 works great without - direct in computer - so sounds like router.
I order from 3Gstore (best price) and was amazed by support/service.
Arrived (NEXT DAY) I'm in Mich. Was shipped the same afternoon.
Came with extra sheets of step by step instructions from 3Gstore.com
Really didn't need them as I was in SHOCK N AWE that when I plugged it in - in place of my crappy unit - that it JUST WORKED AS IS. (to my direct connect computer) My UM175 was seen, dialed? setup? Stuff that took many phone called to Alltel on my previous cy-fre brand unit.
I did have to go in standard 192.168.0.1 and do a setup of my wireless (minor stuff, name WEP - password etc) quick and easy... Really I didn't look at the instructions. (THEY ALSO SEND THEIR CUSTOM MADE CD OF INSTRUCTIONS!) but wasn't needed. Was the eaiest setup of any router... I have had many over the years including Linksys, the KR2 and others.
AMAZING product and FEATURES (new things I've never seen in a router) I'm already impressed - it came about 20 minutes ago and all the computers are already connected. (they just logged in as usual once I setup the wireless networking in the router. (a few quick questions in their setup screen).
Haven't it had it long enough to judge performance... but so far... I'm amazed and comment IT BMR-1000 and 3Dstore.com
also inside package note to "CALL THEM FOR FREE SUPPORT - they love to help". impressive.
Wait - checking Ipod... yep logged in perfectly too.
What I like is each device needs to enter a "NET ACCESS" password.
it can be remembered so you only need enter it once... but it can keep out unwanted connections. _________________ PortraNET.com |

Usage experience...
so far excellent - except once in a while - the computers all loose access to the net. Looking at the menu and modem status - says connected... all looks fine. Even direct wired computers to the modem loose the net.
Only way to fix it found so far is to unplug the AC and replug it into the router.
any ideas?
Otherwise - it's excellent. Happened twice today so far. Once before this. _________________ PortraNET.com |
