Hi- new to this forum, great info. I searched but could not find same problem discussed. Posted this also on Verizon forum since I think the problem must be at their end.

Just started having a problem that shows up as my connection dropping to National Access after am dormant for 15-20 sec and sticking there even when becoming active again. Continuous ping keeps connection at EVDO, 4 bars. Verizon has a service ticket in progress, just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and, if so, what was the solution? (other than constant ping).

Added this info: should have mentioned that I've been using the the USB720 for about 3 months old (had 727 before that but broke it!) with identical location and Verizon Broadband connection for over a year with no problems.

Thanks!
Chuck

Just talked to VZW, seems that if connection kicks down to 1x it may not return to EVDO by design! Not so with me as it sometimes does same on its own. Why it kicks down to 1X when dormant was more a puzzle to them. She said that the System engineers are on it, more later. In the mean time, I switched to HBR (EVDO only) and it seems to be working ok without the pings.

Update: on HBR the connection with no pinging shuts down after 10 minutes or so. Usually then the modem shuts off and must be reinserted in the USB port before the VZAM will detect it. Works fine if keep pinging going.

Have tried different USB port on same PC with similar results.

Do I have a bad aircard or can VZ do this remotely?

Guess I'm the only one who ever had this problem, eh?
Anyway, it's a week later and it seems like VZW has fixed it. Been dormant for 10 minutes and 1X is staying away, EVDO a rock solid 3 bars. Am still waiting for an official response from them.
