Hi. I recently bought a used Compass 597 off ebay and it finally arrived today. However, when I tried to activate the card with a new service, I was told the card hadn't been deactivated yet so I couldn't use it with my new service. How does the process of deactivating the card work? I don't think the previous account for the card is still active since it doesn't work when I plug it into my laptop. Is there anyway I can easily deactivate the card for reuse or does the previous account holder have to do it? Thank you.

The previous account holder has to do it.

If the previous account holder had (or has) a balance on their account, usually the ESN will remain locked and in use until their isn't a balance on the account.

Ok, thank you Michael. I've contacted the seller so hopefully he'll be able to help me deactivate it.
