Anyone who has considered mobile broadband but was turned off by the requirement of a 2-year contract or couldn't justify the cost for the low amount of usage they needed now has another great option: Pay-As-You-Go Mobile Broadband from 3Gstore!
It works just like a pre-paid cell phone, but with data instead of voice minutes. You purchase the modem (a Sierra Wireless 598U) and then add data in 1GB or 250MB increments as you need it - that's it! NO deposits, NO credit checks, NO deposits, NO daily fees! The service operates on Sprint's 3G network, so you'll enjoy coverage everywhere Sprint 3G users do, and since the modem is a Sierra Wireless 598U you can add an external antenna if you need to boost your signal or even share the connection with a mobile broadband router. In short, you'll be able to use your modem just like folks with a contract do, except you'll ONLY have to pay for the usage you NEED!
Pay-As-You-Go Mobile Broadband from 3Gstore is Perfect For:
Occasional travelers - if you have cable or DSL at home and only need mobile broadband occasionally, now you can stay connected while on the road and not have to pay for the service while you're at home!
Business trips, conferences, trade shows
Backup in case your primary internet connection goes down
Temporary/short-term internet access
RV-ers who use campground WiFi - when campground WiFi is unavailable or unreliable, you'll have a backup ready
Canadian travelers who want to stay connected on their trips to the US
Folks who tried to sign up for a contract with a service provider but were told they needed to pay a hefty deposit due to poor or no credit
Anyone wanting to avoid signing a contract or going through a credit check
Pricing information:
The Sierra Wireless 598U modem is $79.99, and that is a one-time cost - you OWN the modem. There are two options for the pre-paid service:
250MB: $25 (expires after 8 days once you activate it).
1GB (1000MB): $60 (expires after 30 days once you activate it).
You can read more and purchase modems and service at 3Gstore.com/prepaid

Well I have to comment this negatively (which I normally don't like to do on forums).
There are third party resellers of Sprint already that sell truly unlimited plans with no contract for $69.95 a month.
Since thier name(s) are filtered out here, thats as much as I can say. I have no desire to take money out of 3G store's pocket because I like their customer service, but 60 bucks a gig is rediculous. The only ppl that will use this are the uninformed. |

onedavester, this service is for folks who DON'T need a lot of data and DON'T want a monthly bill at all - situations like emergency backup, or folks who have cable/DSL at home but need something a few times a year when they travel.
While the per-MB or per-GB cost is higher, people in those situations will SAVE money when compared to any contract, because they don't need it on a monthly basis.
It's not for everyone, obviously - but for users who have no need for 5GB/month (much less unlimited) or can't justify $60/month when they already have another source of connectivity, this will be quite helpful. |

Maureen is correct not for every user,
However it would be perfect for someone similar to my situation, when I go on vacation once a year or go to the folks for Thanksgiving. |
