My Verizon 727 USB modem is connected to an MBR1000 router which has worked out great for me the last year or so, although I do get random lockups on occasion.

Once or twice a day my browser will just stall when trying to get to a website and "resolving host" message will be displayed on the bottom line, no matter what web site I try the same results. The only way out of this loop is to go into the router utility screen and disconnect and re-connect from the modem (WAN) screen under status.

Not a big deal but it seems to be occurring with more and more frequency, my signal strength never varies it's always around -75db.

Any ideas?

Ron

switch to OpenDNS, get away from flaky DNS servers.

A question, how do I switch to open DNS, I can't see any reference to it in the MBR config?

Advanced>Web Filter
enable "Minimal" radio button
Check "Enable OpenDNS ISP Filter Bypass Algorithm"
save and restart the router.

test it here: http://www.opendns.com/welcome/

I tried last night to make the configuration changes on the MBR but the options didn't exactly match your description....I went ahead anyway and switched on the Open DNS selection and using a few of the security options given in the menu I failed to connect ot the Open DNS test site.

The "Enable OpenDNS ISP Filter Bypass Algorithm" option wasn't available to me, of course I was watching the Colts/Patriot football game at the time so I was distracted. I'll try again today.

Thank you for getting back to me.

Ron
