Bell Turbo Stick Novatel U727
Mobile Connect (Full and basic)
Windows Vista Business SP2
Multiple computers / laptops

On first attempt connection is fine and doesn't drop out. If I disconnect and try to connect again later I receive the following error message:

"Static IP address is assigned to the cellular device and it is unlikely to function correctly with the connection. Do you want to proceed?"

Clicking "Yes" causes the connection attempt to fail, clicking "No" causes the connection manager to hang. The only fix is to restart the computer and then it connects fine.

I have had the stick replaced. Same problem crept up after the first few connects / disconnects.

There is no static IP assigned, only using DHCP.

Reseating the stick makes no difference. Removing the dial up connections makes no difference. I've changed just about every setting and service I can think of, to do with networking.

Searched error message on the web with no luck. Bell techs have never seen this problem before (no big surprise).

I have travelled with the setup and the same thing happens no matter where I am so it's not the cell network.

Any ideas?

Iain
