I installed the connection manager, then after having major trouble with this modem I decided to uninstall the software, then reinstall it. My critical mistake was checking the "do not auto-install" box in the manager before deleting the program. Bingo, the modem is doing exactly what I told it to do-- not auto-install. However, I can not manually install it either! I can only get the removable MMC drive to be recognized, and the drivers for the modem can not be found.
I didn't have System Restore running in my Windows 7, so I tried looking for the software online, and I can't find it. I did read some blog posts people had posted about doing some regedit tweaking to get the modem to autoinstall but I could not find how they did it. There are registry files for the CD-ROM still on my computer.
I don't really know where to go from here, after trying for several days on my own, downloading generic drivers from Novatel, then spending an hour on VM's tech support line trying to explain what it is I needed- and their response was for me to try to exchange the device at Best Buy for a new one. I doubt I will get a new one since it is past the 30 day point.
Any help or replies would be appreciated. |

run ccleaner on your registry, should clear the reg entry that kereps the virtual cd form mounting. _________________ PortoBatMBR1000 |

| That didn't work, but thanks for the help. I guess I will have to wait and see if the drivers will be made available online? |

You might also install on a second machine and copy the installation folder onto the first machine to see if that will allow you to make changes to it as well. This would be a hassle but is certainly worth a shot. _________________ BITF, PITM |
