Hi there,

I bought a Broadband2Go and have got great usage out of it, but really need 5GB per month.

Can I repurpose my Virgin Broadband2Go MC760 for use with either Sprint or Verizon? Will the modem's ESN not be in the Sprint/Verizon system, hence not be eligible for use on the network?

Should I just buy a new one outright? Would like to call the 3gstore and activate but am conscious that it might not work so would prefer not to hassle them if it's not possible.

I'm a Brit and so I'm a GSM junkie. I'm a newbie to CDMA. So be gentle Smile

Thanks
James

It just so happens that the other day I purchased a Virgin Mobile Broadband2Go Novatel Ovation MC760 for Grins;-)

I know that the radio inside this device would only operate on the Sprint network so to answer your question in using it on the Verizon network, absolutely not!

As far as using a device that you purchased with the Virgin Mobile branding as well as the pricing it will not either.

Here is why:

-All ESN's of the devices that are sold to Virgin Mobile are input into a closed or segregated network that Sprint manages billing wise for Virgin Mobile

-Your ESN would not be seen when asking a Sprint authorized dealer or even a Sprint Corporate owned store to activate. They would not be able to activate.

-The modems that you would purchase from Sprint are priced in the $250's to $300's thus would not be heavily discounted to allow the population to go the route of purchasing a modem at a lesser cost in hopes of activating it on a network other then their own.

-Virgin Mobile is not looking to foot the bill on the difference in the cost of the device. They are hoping that you will continue to purchase their service in the form of Top-Up cards. When you do so, you both win!!! Virgin Mobile makes up the cost of their device out there and you win by receiving service without a lengthy contract;-)

All in all, the Pre-Paid service for Broadband is an excellent choice for many reasons!

3gstore will gladly set you up with a Sprint 598U and 2yr contract.

today/tomorrow is the last day of a promo that gets you the Sprint 598u for $29.99 upfront on a 2yr contract -- and you'll make $20 after a mail in rebate. in addition, we're including a FREE booster antenna.
