I want to get this: http://3gstore.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=239_95&products_id=701

but 12 feet of cable will not reach from my roof to the room I need it to. Is long cable ok to run or will I lose signal?

how long a cable you can use depends on the difference in signal between your room and where you'll locate antenna.

how much cable will you need to get from antenna to your room?
whats the RSSI in your room now, and what speedtest.net result do you get in room?
whats the RSSI were you plan on locating the antenna outside? and speeds?

much more on RSSI is here: http://3gstore.com/RSSI

Well I live on a farm with my wife and her dad owns the farm. His house is a few hundred feet away and on the second floor (higher up than our house) I can hold 60% or ore signal. IN my home/room I usually stay at 20% to 40% and even with that, I download great speeds and have good ping. I play wow and bridge over to xbox live (Just to say that Sprint has kept me grandfathered in the TRUE unlimited non 5 gig cap plan!) BUT, I have these times, being lower in a "hole", that the signal just drops and then xbox live goes to poop. I know higher up is better as I tested on the properly up that high with constant STRONG signal. I can even spike and hold 60% in my room, just thinking a great omni antenna up on the house would solve this drop. I think i would need 25 to 30 feet.

No more replies without RSSI info? OK. I can drop to -100 in bad weather. But stay in upper 80s and lower 90s. High up in my father in laws house it was lower 80s.

Running antenna cables at that length would require an amplifier to keep from losing the gain your antenna would get. Something like this would do the trick I think.

direct connect amp

Good grief that is over priced. I could go with a cell repeater off of amazon that repeats gsm and cdma for about the same amount that the antenna, this amp and cable will cost.

That is certainly also a possible solution and worth looking into. Every EVDO configuration is unique and that might be the best route to take.

this antenna comes with 25ft of LMR240 cable which is lower loss than cable on antenna you linked to in first post.

if you could identify exactly how much cable you needed, we could special order that length of cable in LMR240 for you... but its only useful at under 40ft. after that, you're better off with the ultra-low-loss of LMR240 or a wireless system.

So under 40 feet would work? Cool. I was looking at the bigger 36 inch model, as I thought bigger antenna would be better. Can that come with more cable?

when located at same place, the bigger antenna provides you with no performance advantage.

the problem with it is the 12ft of permanently attached cable is inferior RG58 cabling. adding an extension to the 32" antenna is not as smart as adding extension cable to the 18" antenna that only forces you to use 14" (inches) of RB58 pigtail.
