" No longer goes into hibernate mode while plugged into AC. " This is great news as I have had to remove other preferred networks when using my MiFi simply to be aware when it hibernates. _________________ BITF, PITM |

Great to hear, I was wondering when a firmware update might finally come out...
I wish they could fix it so it doesn't have to be powered on while charging. Plus, it would be great if the MiFi would automatically turn on when plugged into a CradlePoint router, instead of always having to hit the power button.
If even just one of those features could be added in a future update, I would be perfectly happy. |

We noticed the VERIZON MiFi firmware update was available and have been upgrading ours. Afterwards, we noticed that:
- the verizon mifi will charge via a/c adapter and NOT be a hotspot
- via web admin, the battery icon is animated while charging
- you still can't tether via USB and have it as hotspot (without a hack)
- it seems faster (but i forgot to test speeds BEFORE the upgrade)
here are speed/pingtest.net results after the upgrade:
note: i've never seen consistent ping in the 70's nor have i ever seen consistent uploads over 700kbps. perhaps my tower has been upgraded recently, and this was coincidental. time will tell as more people do their firmware upgrades. |

Mine is Sprint, worked for me. This is what I have now in my "Version" screen:
AP: 11.47.17
Router: 018.0101
Modem: 142
So far I dont notice ANY improvement, I still get "hang time" which is what I hate more of the mifi...never had that prob with my old px-500 card. |

I just updated my Sprint model, everything went smoothly. When it was done installing and rebooting, I went back in and ran the PRL update, which took me from 60752 to the new 60755.
Then I set mine for Sprint-only, since I don't need roaming.
Here is a comparison of the versions:
Old AP - 11.43.7
New AP - 11.47.17
Old Router - 012
New Router - 018.0101
Old Modem - 133
New Modem - 142 |

it turns out that the reason my Sprint MiFi would not do firmware upgrade was probably due to terrible sprint signal i have in home office.
once i took the mifi and laptop outside where better signal exists, i was able to upgrade the firmware on my Sprint MiFi. |

VERIZON MIFI owners, take note.
a) there does not appear to be any way to upgrade verizon mifi firmware while connected to the mifi via wifi
b) all verizon mifi's must be tethered via USB to perform firmware upgrade.
c) the MAC version of VZAccess Manager CANNOT perform mifi firmware upgrade.
d) only WINDOZE version of VZAccess Manager can upgrade mifi firmware (wtf?)
e) after firmware upgrade to my verizon mifi, it reports the following:

CRADLEPOINT ROUTER OWNERS BEWARE!
with this new firmware version, the way your VERIZON MiFi interacts with your Cradlepoint router may cause some confusion!
with prior firmware, all you had to do was connect your MiFi to your cradlepoint router via USB cable, and the router would "wake up" the MiFi and establish/manage the carrier connection.
with the new firmware, your MiFi must already be turned ON before tethering to a Cradlepoint router, or there will never be a carrier connection established, even though the modem light on router blinks and the MiFi appears in cradlepoint router admin.

My Sprint MiFi never worked like this with either my MBR1000 or PHS300. In fact, that is the way I wish it had always worked.
I would plug in the MiFi via USB, and it would appear in the router admin page, but would always be "Offline" until I pressed the power button on the MiFi and the green light on the side came on. Made it impossible to use in the trunk of my car, since I always had to press the power button, unlike the USB modems that automatically connect.
Does the Verizon model work differently? |

Just finished the upgrade; went flawlessly; I've never
seen a consistent 4 Bars on my Cradlepoint for Evdo-A
signal so something is better..same room..same MiFi orientation same time of day so nothing else has changed..getting a consistent 76% on signal and
a -74 dbm..web page downloads seem snapier..I'll try a download of a large adobe file to see if I'm getting faster downloads.. |

I have a Verizon MiFi. So I understand I need to perform the firmware upgrade using VZAccess Manager and a USB connection. However, I cannot see any menu or option in VZAccess Manager to upgrade the firmware.
FWIW, I turned WiFi off, and am connected to the Internet through my LAN. Maybe one or both of these is the wrong choice. Though I believe I tried while not connected to LAN and with WiFi on, and still could not find an option to update the firmware.
I checked within VZAccess Manager for updates, but it reported I had the latest version.
Needless to say, I'm and would appreciate assistance. Thanks. |
