My system is a USB727/Cradle Point 500 Verizon service. Works perfect with 2 laptops. I have a T Mobile fone. Wanting to get a new T Mobile fone.

We go camping where the T Mobile has no service, but I have 3G with the USB727/CP500. T Mobile has a fone, Samsung t339 that will connect to a WI-FI signal. So the thought is, get the new fone, use it as normal and then when in a non T Mobile area, can use the Verizon service for fone service.

Also, for $10 a month extra, when I am on any WI-FI connection there is no charge for minutes. Thus, when I am home, use my T Mobile fone connected to the Verizon USB727/CP500 there is no minutes usage charge. Talk just like a land line fone. I do not have a land line fone, only my cell.

My question is this. Will this work? T Mobile tells me it will.

Thanks Jim

most likely when you cannot get phone reception you are going to be on 1xRTT sloooowwwww wireless data, and a VoIP phone call would not be fun, or sustainable on the bandwidth.

Thanks,

IF I have a fast connection with Verizon, will this work? Guess the next question is, can the USB727/CRT500 operate at speeds that will carry voice over the internet?

Where we camp, there is fast Verizon internet, just no T Mobile service. Thus the reason to consider this idea.

Considering taking the USB727/CRT500 to the T Mobile store and have them make a fone connect with my router and see what happens. I'll let you know.

Thanks Again, Jim

should work, people have reported success with VoIP services over 3G.
