| I'm interested in using a notebook and EVDO card to listen to streaming radio (32kbps streams) while driving. Does anyone use their connection in this manner? If so, I would be very interested in hearing about the quality of your listening experience. |

Even with a low speed 1xRTT (80-120Kbits/sec) connection you can stream pretty good quality music, up to 96K MP3/WMA streams. With EVDO connection (up to 1MB/sec), you'll have no problem with HQ audio streams (300K+) and even fairly HQ video streams.
Video is planned to be a major content for EVDO so audio is a non-issue.
Verizon has been sending out letters to heavy users on the $60/$80 accounts. I haven't heard of any letters/warnings from Sprint on full EVDO accounts but Sprint is starting to get picky with those on $15 Vision accounts on cellphones used as modems. |

There have been 2 reports of letters being sent out from Verizon. I haven't heard reports of any others. Verizon has many many more customers compared to Sprint, since Verizon has had service for the last 2 years, and Sprint is just starting to offer EVDO service. I would expect, that when Sprint starts getting many more customers, they will start to face the same issues.
Yes, streaming does work well, even over 1XRTT (BUT, check your Terms of Service to see if it is allowed - AND be considerate, as EVDO is a shared bandwidth technology and what you do, CAN affect others on your cell tower). _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier

| glad to hear they're actively monitoring the bandwidth and hopefully will enforce it as it really sucks to have the card and receive subpar service sometimes due to others streaming audio/video. |

Heaven forbid that we ask the service provider to increase the bandwidth to match demand, but instead pay their CEO another hundred million and in-turn censor the services that the customers can use.
It's ridiculous to me - Verizon indiscriminately decides what is "allowable" for unlimited internet. They limit us to the minimum number of services that they think the customer will tolerate before screaming bloody murder. Can you imagine what mainstream America would do if they said that we could only use our cellphones to make calls to non-business customers, or only phone sessions that last 5 minutes or less, and no more than 2 hours per day? |

And that is why I'm going with Sprint. What's the point of "broadband" if you're constrained in how you can use it? |

| I have been thinking about trying the XM or Sirius free 3 day online trial. I have a Sprint 1xRTT now. Am I likely to "pop up on the radar" if I try this for 3 days? |

I can't see that causing any problems, at least not with Sprint. |
