Novatel USB 720 - Vista notebook - worked great for 2 years. I regularly updated VZAM. Then lately frequent disconnects started. I'd also have to use Task Manager to close VZAM to start over. Tried older versions of VZAM - same crap.
Crossed my fingers and setup the dial connection mention on this board. Thank you all! Modem works fine now.
Should I make any special tweaks to the dial connection or just let it default?
Anyone know of any small apps so I can see my bandwidth usage in realtime like the VZAM statistics? |

To enable a constant connection you can either setup a constant ping or buy a cradlepoint router like the ctr350 it will keep your connection alive 24/7 and allows you to share your broadband signal with other computers, and wireless devices.

Still mystified why bouts of frequent disconnects using VZAM seem to ebb and flow. Been home a week; ancient version of VZAM and now, latest version have been working great. Windows dial connection still always reliable.
Also found a program called Bandwidth Monitor version 3.4.0.757 that is very functional and uses less memory than Bit Meter. The former would be ideal for users with a 5GB/mo. usage cap since it has an alarm that can be set at desired point. Google it. I probably would break forum rules if I posted where I got my version! |

Oh yes, Dario I do plan on buying a router. I will be using it in a vehicle with 2 notebooks on the road and at home with notebooks and desktop.
So I need 12VDC and 110VAC power capability and USB modem input to wi-fi signal is what I need.
What model do you recommend? Keep in mind I am a tight-azz! |
