|
|
I was using a KR1 with my old faithful PC5750 card... well, one or both of them are just pretty much dead... I can't get the card to connect via the router, and I don't have any way to test the card in a laptop.
So... basically, I'm out of a contract, but don't want to get the * router they offer at alltel due to the need for at least three wired connections as well as the wireless option.
I'm looking at the MBR1000, and I'm trying to choose the best modem to go with it.
I have an external antenna that I used for the PC5750.....
Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. |

| I've been happy using the EC168 with the MBR1000. It's been really solid, and the card was recommended to me by someone I talk to that works for Alltel. He called it the best card for the network. |

I tried that card with the * router and had mixed results. I'll purchase the card and router off ebay to avoid any contracts.... |

| I purchased an EC168 off ebay about 4 months ago and I'm really pleased with it. It's been used all over the country, sometimes in fairly remote locations, without an antenna. I've used it with a CTR350 once or twice but really bought it to use when traveling with laptop (still using my PC5750/Linksys when home). |

finally got my new gear in. I got a brand new MBR1000 for $180, and a brand new EC168 for $60. I've been using them for about three days now and I couldn't be happier. I haven't dropped the connection once. Whereas with my KR1 I would have to reboot several times a day at least.
Thanks for all the advice.... |
