I purchased a CTR350 to connect to my 8330 (OS 4.5). I upgraded the firmware on the 350 to 2.4.5.

I have two problems:

1. In order to get the router to detect my BB, I have to pull the battery out and reboot it completely, then connect it back to the CTR. If I disconnect it from the CTR for any reason, I have to hard reset the BB all over again.

2. The router/BB only stay connected to the Internet for about a minute. I then have to hard reset the BB again.

I have read several similar reports, but they all seem to be addressed by firmware 2.4.2, as far as I can tell. I haven't tried downgrading to 2.4.2, but I am thinking I should.

Any ideas on either problem?

Update: downgrading to 2.4.2 does not fix either problem.

Can you tether your BB8830 to your computer and connector successfully?

Yes, no problems there.

I can repeatedly connect and disconnect the BB from my laptop, being able to connect each time without a hard reset needed.

With the BB attached to my laptop, I can stay connected to the internet for a considerable period of time that only ends when I close the connection.

The device is pretty cool in concept, but between the problems I have been having and the other problems I have seen here, it seems like it's just not all that functional unless you're running a particular type of wireless adapter.

The Cradlepoint support team is quite cordial and are trying to be helpful, but they don't appear to have the tools or ability to resolve more complex problems.

Having said that, is anyone familiar with a 3g router that is known to work with blackberries?

Just to follow up...

I replaced by Verizon 8330 curve with a Verizon Tour last evening. The Tour works very well with the CTR 350. I am no longer seeing the problems I had with the Curve.

I am not sure if it is the difference in the OS (Tour = 4.7, Curve = 4.5), or if it is the hardware, but there is some dramatic incompatibility with my Curve.

I just posted a fix for the t-mobile curve--8320 using a PHS 300 (whic I understand is very similar to the CTR 350.. Check it out, and perhaps try my solution...who knows, it might work... Les
