Steven M. here, Just wanted to thank all of the 3GStore.com staff, CradlePoint, and Tekkeon for choosing my entry in the contest. The equipment will be put to good use in all of the facets of my life, and be a resource for those around me in my college experience, and life in general.

To all the forum members, look for my posts on my adventures with the setup, as I will be having many.
Main projects dreamed up so far:
-AP in a backpack, I have a secondary laptop sleeve in my backpack where a custom mount for the setup will go, using plexiglass
-splashpage/redirect with info about me and my setup (with GPS map hopefully)
-Continuous access/connectivity, since the tekkeon does it, why not?
-AP/network for my events with AEOE, BSA, and FireFox campus rep events.

please share your thoughts/ideas as well.

$40 on custom cut plexiglass
$10 on glue and misc
1 good enclosure to protect my gear-priceless

building a custom clear backpack/briefcase slim enclosure for the Tekkeon and MBR, as well as a Meraki mini or open-mesh AP(reason to follow)

building this setup to give wifi access in my classes, and at events I attend, with using a meraki I will get per user statistics, logs, and the ability to redirect, and meshing when I deploy my other units.

that's what the Cradlepoint firmware is missing form it's login/captive portal solution, a redirect after login, as well as an allowed sites before login (walled garden)

A little more background on my quals/exp:
2 years with SoCalFreenet, a non-profit doing installs and support for free wifi in San Diego, they where SD Wireless User Group when I started.
2 years teaching computer repair (at the high school I graduated from the year before)
I took a cisco wireless course at my community college, the teacher was the guy who wrote the course cicso uses.
during the big LA and San Diego fires a little time ago I was evacuated, and volunteered my time and EVDO connection to run laptop stations at the del mar evac site so people can stay in touch as needed, as well as file FEMA paperwork.
I'm a longtime user of these products and projects:

I mainly use mac (60+ collection including a TAM and Lisa, most were heading to scrap bins)

can navigate basic utils in *NIX's
