| I've had a chance to do an upgrade install of SL, and the Cricket A600 drivers and connection manager works fine on an upgrade. It looks like the installer doesn't work properly. |

Posting a followup....
I have now gone back to Tiger 10.5.8. The EVDO was solved with the old old Sprint drivers as noted before. I hope that helps someone else.
But I had other deal-killer problems. Firefox was eaten alive by Snow Leopard and just wrecked. Nothing would fix it. Parallels being broken was the other big issue. Thankfully I did have a backup and used it.
Can't emphasize it too much: back up, back up, back up! |

You have to dial out using the device in system preferences->network.
I'll poke around my installation today. If I do a SL upgrade instead of a fresh install, everything works fine without any workarounds, so I think their installer is messed up. |

|
|
| Here's what I know about the Cricket 3G Broadband and Snow Leopard. I am new to owning a Mac so forgive me if I don't sound like an expert. Anyway, I bought a MacBook on August 8, and it, of course, came with the Leopard (I think it was 10.5.6) and I had the Cricket devic, which worked fine for me until a day or two ago. I upgraded to Snow Leopard on August 28, and everything worked fine until the 31st. All of a sudden I couldn't get a connection and got a message that there was no device. Went to Cricket, who didn't know anything, and they told me to call Apple, who said it looked like they needed to do a software update. Called Cricket and they told me it didn't work with Snow but they were working on an updated version of the software. They couldn't tell me when the update would be ready. Anyway, to make a very long story short, I had to uninstall Snow Leopard, reinstall the first version, and now everything works. This was a hassle. It took a long time and I miss Snow Leopard. As soon as I get new service Cricket is outta here. I think I'm over having 3G as my primary internet. Time for DSL or cable. |

| So what is the exact, final sequence to complete? And should I include the * as well? I tried these other steps but got lost. |

Yes, you should be including the *.
I've looked at the installer and there's a definite issue with how they install the drivers. I may be able to take their installer and fix it, but it'll take time for me to work on. |

I tried to type in the command
sudo chown -R root:wheel *
and got an error
chown: *: No such file or directory
It should also be noted that the original files on my computer are not called CDFree* and DevGuruVsp* They are called CDFree_panther, CDFree_tiger+, DevGuruVsp_panther, and DevGuruVsp_tiger+
Any ideas? |

Those steps were earlier in the thread:
| Quote: | Move the CDFree* and DevGuruVsp* kexts from /System/Library/Extensions to the desktop.
Delete the panther versions
Rename the tiger versions to CDFree.kext and DevGuruVsp.kext
Copy them to /Library/Extensions |

The files do not have the same name. Does that matter? The ones on my computer don't have an * they say:
CDFree_panther.kext
CDFree_tiger+.kext
DevGuruVsp_panther.kext
DevGuruVsp_tiger+.kext |

The * is a wildcard character and in the context of CDFree* means everything starting with CDFree ( so both CDFree_panther... and CDFree_tiger...) |

I did everything listed and it all seemed to work fine, (no errors), except I have no networks in the window where I normally see "Cricket" and when I try to connect I get "select network."
Thoughts?
Thanks |

| I called Cricket and they have no clue. Any real solution seems elusive. So I cancelled my service as I'm not going to pay for nothing. I am looking into another service. I am very unhappy about this. |
