I'm in Colorado Springs, CO. Merlin 620 card. I consistenly have very poor upstream speeds. I'm averaging about 21kbit up. My downstream is 864kbit right now at -72 signal. I have an Intelligain amplifier and the speed goes up only slightly (to 26kbit) when using the amplifier. All speed tests were performed using dslreports.
My friend who has a laptop right next to me using Sprint service has consistently over 125kbit upstream using dslreports.
Any ideas why this might be? |

Your stream might be poor because you have an enlarged prostate. You need to see your urologist to correct that. |

It was the stupid Bytemobile client that comes with the Sprint connection manager. Once I removed the Bytemobile client from the Windows registry my upstream speed shot up to 130.
Thanks for your help, bzboy. |

Bytemobile installs itself in conjunction with Sprint Connection manager and it compresses JPEG images real time so they download faster. My experience was that it severely slows down upstream bandwidth. I confirmed this by doing 4 independent speedtests from different servers. My speed was attenuated to 27kbps when it should have been over 130kbps upstream.
I first tried to disable the Bytemobile client through the software option but for some stupid reason it kept loading itself up everytime Windows booted. I had to remove all references to the client in the registry and now it doesn't load anymore.
If the Bytemobile client icon doesn't exist in your tray you're probably ok. |
