| I just signed up for Sprint MiFi 2200 data service. But now I am reading up on 4G service coming to San Francisco in late 2009. Everything I've read about the PHS300 was that it needs to be connected to a USB dongle/modem tied to a carrier. Why would anyone need another WiFi router if they already have a MiFi? The PhS300 does not work on its own, right? |

I am asking because I am still within my 30 days exchange, if I want. I read that 4g "unlimited usag @$69/$79 a month" is coming to San Francisco late this year or early next. Please correct me if I am wrong. MiFi 2200 does not support 4g.
So the PHS300 will not work on its own, it has to be connected to a USB dongle? |

Unless of course you do want to use the 4G service in SF. Since you are now, most likely, locked into a Sprinit MiFi service agreement for 2years you will not be able to utilize the 4G service and will be stuck with the 3G speeds while your friends that waited to get the SPHS300 with a 4G modem are cruising the internet @ 4x the speeds.
One of the reasons I like the flexibility of the PHS/SPHS products. |

I got the MiFi for free so it's not a bad deal right now. I guess when 4g hits San Francisco I can buy the PHS300 here and "upgrade" my data plan. Since the PHS300 does not work on its own, I still need the MiFi to access the Sprint network or does the Sprint version of the PHS300 work as a standalone unit?
Does the PHS300 work with an iPhone via USB Dock???? If no, is it in the works? |

| Sprint does offer the U300 modem which is both a 3G and 4G capable. Meaning if you are in an area that does not have 4G it will use the 3G side. If you are in an area that is WiMAX capable then it will the 4G side. |
