| I have a sling box and need to know how to stop the udp packets from being blocked. The box has a IP of 192.168.0.15 and I have a umb1000 cradlepoint router. So I need to setup the router to let the packets through without blocking them. Is there a way to do this.........thanks........two-dogs |

try disabling wish on the mbr.
is this from internet>MBR>sling box, or local network>sling box?
wired or wireless? _________________ PortoBatMBR1000 |

| Thanks for answering my post I have got past that problem but need help solving another. I have set up a 310n router to work as a repeater bridge, but for some reason it will not find the IP of the device. I know I have it setup right because I can get my internet on my laptop after turning off my wifi switch. All I have to do is hook up a ethernet cable from my laptop to my 310n and I get internet that way. I am using dd-wrt software on my linksys 310n.....any advice on this..........thanks.......two-dogs |

what device isn't getting an IP?
what is connected to where, and what are you trying to accomplish?
the repeater bridge mode repeats an available and setup properly wifi connection. _________________ PortoBatMBR1000 |

| Ok I have a device that is called a slinger and it will pick up a signal from the internet through a router. I have to run a long ethernet cable to the other room to get it to work. I was told that to get it to work wireless is to use another router and set it to run in a repeater bridge mode. So I want to be able to send my internet signal in another room using the router setup to run in repeater bridge mode. So how do I get the signal from my mbr1000 to my 310n and recognize the slinger...........thanks....two-dogs |

you want to either do WDS or cleint mode.
client mode on the 310n would deliver the most speed in file transfers and media transfers.
WDS would extend your wireless coverage as well.
the repeater bridge mode in dd-wrt isn't the best solution.
you have a slingbox? and a MBR1000? correct?
if you bought from 3gstore they have a dd-wrt WDS configuration guide _________________ PortoBatMBR1000 |

| Ok it is not a slingbox it is a slinger and it picks tv signal out of the air and can get cable tv through it. It just has to share an internet connection, so if I hook it up directly to the mbr I get signal, but I want to use it in another room so I need to get my internet signal there to watch tv. I will try the client mode and see what happens............thanks..........two-dogs |

http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Client_Mode_Wireless
you want client bridge, actually, sorry I missed stating that earlier, I have a 310n and have used the same feature in the past.
the main things to hit are:
set the IP of the 310n as 192.168.0.xxx (xxx being outside your DHCP pool of the MBR)
set the SSID for the network to connect to as the SSID your MBR transmits
enter password and password scheme properly (WPA/WPA2/WEP)
disable the SPI firewall under the security tab
diable the 310n's DHCP server
also you can click the "use WAN as switch" setting making the 310n a 5 port switch/wifi bridge.
alsong the way jsut hit the save setting button, when your all done, then apply, the unit will reboot then you can move it into use.
and your all set
I say client mode as WDS and the repeater bridge mode bot cut the available wifi in half when wireless clients connect.
for best results beyond this have any other wireless devices wired or off when using the slinger as much as possible, as the wifi is a shared resource.
in the dd-wrt info page at the 192.168.0.xxx IP from earlier it will let you know if you connected up and what speed the wireless is operating at. if your unable to access the page then it isn't working properly.
for all the testing and configuration I suggest a laptop hard wired to the 310n with the wireless off. _________________ PortoBatMBR1000 |

| Well I tried the client mode but I lost my connection and the yellow light came on on the reset button in the middle of the 310n. And it does the same thing in client bridge, but when it is in repeater bridge it works. I changed my 310n IP to 192.168.0.6 because my router is 192.168.0.1. Since I have lost my connection after changing to client is there a way I can log in with out setting up my laptop.........two-dogs |

| Never mind I had to hook up my laptop to be able to log in. Using a ethernet cable hooked up to the 310n was the only way I could get back in to the router. I tried the client bridge mode never lost connection but still do not have a signal to the slinger.......thanks for all your help.......two-dogs |

| You said something about setting my IP on the 310 outside the dhcp pool. So if I have my dhcp from 192.168.6 to 192.168.0.50, I want my 310 set to something over 50 is that right?...........two-dogs |
