Just started having a problem in connecting to the Verizon network, and am curious if others have seen this issue.

I'm running Mac OS X 10.5.8 with a Verizon V740 Express Card. I don't use the Verizon software - just the native WWAN support in the OS. The system has worked more or less flawlessly for almost two years. Yesterday, I attempted to connect to the network - on inserting the card, I get a blank outline signal indicator (there are usually bars here). Current Network reads as None.

Configuration appears correct, the ppp.log shows normal connections up until yesterday when connection failure errors began to appear.

I've re-booted, tried turning the card off, etc.

Any ideas of things I can check before engaging with tech support?

Thanks!

if its still a problem, check to see if you have auto-software updates enabled. there were a couple of recent updates released, and maybe one of them has caused a new conflict.

if you are using time machine, maybe a roll back to before any recent updates could help you figure things out?

last ditch effort is install latest from http://vzam.net

good luck.

Alex:

Thanks for the help.

I'd wondered about that - I do updates manually, but there have been a variety of changes come through this week.

So I checked it out - comparing the update history with the connection log, it appears that the card was working after the last update.

I've tried engaging tech support, will see if they have anything to say. In some respects, I don't care all that much - I've got a new mifi card on the way, so this may all become mute shortly. But I would like to see what the problem is in case it's something that will affect the new card's connection (which, admittedly, seems unlikely).

Thanks again.
