CTR500 and Expresscard to USB adapter?

Has anyone tried to put an Expresscard to USB adapter into the Expresscard slot on their CTR500? My USB port on the CTR500 seems to have gone bad and I'm wondering if it might be an option to get an Expresscard to USB adapter (like the one shown on eBay below) and use that card's USB port instead?

I don't see any reason why it would not work, however if your router is under a year old, you would still be under the 1 year manufacture warranty to get the router replaced, I would also recommend try plugging in a usb extension cable between the modem and your usb connector on the router to see if that helps.
