- First Pocket PC device in Canada with Microsoft Windows Mobile(R) 5.0 -

SCARBOROUGH, ON, Nov. 18 /CNW/ - TELUS Mobility, UTStarcom Personal
Communications and Microsoft Canada Co. today announced the Canadian
availability of the UTStarcom Pocket PC 6700, the first Pocket PC in Canada
with Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0. Operating on TELUS Mobility's Wireless High
Speed network, the UTStarcom PPC6700 offers high-speed mobile access to
e-mail, the Internet and services such as music downloads and streaming video
at broadband speeds.

"A growing number of Canadians have an appetite for powerful and
multifunctional devices that offer extremely fast mobile access to e-mail and
the Internet, and the UTStarcom Pocket PC 6700 is the ideal device to ensure
these clients remain connected and productive when they're on the go," said
Robert Blumenthal, TELUS Mobility's vice president of products and services.

TELUS Mobility's Wireless High Speed network offers typical download
speeds of 400 to 700 kilobits per second, at least six times faster than
previous data services. Based on the CDMA 1xEVDO standard, the newest Third
Generation (3G) wireless data technology available, Wireless High Speed is
available in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto and Montreal, and will roll
out to more urban centres throughout 2006. The UTStarcom PPC6700 is also
designed to be fully backward compatible with TELUS Mobility's 1X network,
which covers more than 90% of the Canadian population, and offers mobile data
service where Wireless High Speed is not yet available.

Features of the UTStarcom Pocket PC 6700
Providing manageable and enhanced access to corporate and personal data,
e-mail and the Internet, the UTStarcom PPC6700 features the new Microsoft
Windows Mobile 5.0 software, with updated Microsoft Office applications
including the introduction of Microsoft Office PowerPoint(R) Mobile (to view
presentations on the go), Excel(R) Mobile (with new chart support), Word(R)
Mobile and multimedia and Internet access via Internet Explorer Mobile and
Windows Media Player. The UTStarcom PPC6700 also supports Outlook Mobile and
Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync for over-the-air synchronization of e-mail,
calendar and task information with Microsoft Exchange Server 2003.

"With the power and flexibility of the Windows Mobile 5.0 software
platform and the speed of TELUS Mobility's Wireless High Speed network,
Canadians will have the freedom to stay connected when and where they want,"
said Sean Seaton, Business Group Lead, Windows Mobile and Embedded Devices,
Microsoft Canada. "The UTStarcom Pocket PC 6700 combines flexible software
with innovative hardware and a network to help business customers more easily
access their most essential information."

The UTStarcom PPC6700 integrates a full sliding QWERTY keyboard that
opens from the side and automatically changes screen orientation from portrait
to landscape viewing mode, a 1.3 megapixel digital camera with video, built-in
WiFi capability, and Bluetooth support for accessories such as wireless
headsets or hands-free car kits. The UTStarcom PPC6700 delivers advanced
connectivity by automatically synchronizing with Microsoft Exchange 2003 and
features a built-in mini-SD slot that accepts secure mini-digital memory cards
for viewing pictures and e-mail attachments, and allows sharing of large data
files with mini-SD devices.

"The UTStarcom Pocket PC 6700 is truly an achievement in design and
innovation," said Philip Christopher, president of UTStarcom Personal
Communications. "Built with business applications in mind, the sliding
keyboard and advanced data capabilities are just two of the many features
which, when paired with TELUS Mobility's Wireless High Speed Network, allow
professionals to carry office capabilities in their pocket."

The UTStarcom Pocket PC 6700 is available at TELUS Mobility retail
locations across Canada for $399.99 on a three-year contract or $549.99 with no contract.
