what do you mean it does not work for you?
what were you expecting to have happen, and what is really happening? |

I take a micro USB cable, and modify it as in the video (cut the green and white wires), when I plug the MiFi into my computer (desktop or laptop) it will not charge. Wifi still works though.
I'm expecting it to work as in the video. That it charges while using wifi, plugged into my laptop via USB. Using an unmodified cable shuts down my wifi, but charges. |

its likely then that your USB port isn't putting out as many milliamps as his was. 500mA is typical from a USB port, but some laptops have settings that reduce that. look for a setting to allow for max USB power?
even at full 500mA... if you are operating in an area with weak cellular signal, causing the EVDO radio to draw more power... that can also cause your MiFi not to charge.
in my opinion, 500mA just isn't enough power to operate a receiving radio (EVDO), a transmitting radio (WiFi) and still recharge a battery.
especially if one or both radios has reason to draw higher power under certain situations.
instead of attaching to your computer, why not tether your MiFi to an MBR1000? |

I also tried using that same cable (plus many many others) to plug the MiFi into the Tekkeon 1800. The 1800 puts out 1000mA on the USB port, and it does not charge there either. The only cable that seems to charge this (other than the AC adapter that it ships with) MiFi is the cable that came with my Tekkeon 1800. It's a retractable USB cable that allows you to put different tips on it. |

| Note that the amount of power provided to a USB port is, by specification, only 100 mA UNLESS the device requests more. On Linux computers, the software that handles this is in the OS USB driver, so all devices that request more than 100 mA get it. On windows computers, however, this is not the case, as the request for more power is serviced by the device driver. Ergo, if you don't have the device driver installed on the computer, the device will only get 100 mA, even if your hardware is capable of supplying more. |

| I use a powered USB hub at home and it charges the MIFI just fine. My MacBook Pro also charges it via the USB port.. |

| A powered USB cord works fine for me too, anyone know if a Blackberry charger for the Tour would work on the MiFi. The adapters for both are the same size. |
