I can certainly stay within the # of megabytes for download/upload with two modems. 1 modem in my netbook's mini PCI slot, the other a USB modem. Can I share one account with both modems or do I need to pay for two completely separate accounts (as if they are for two different people with respective download limits).

This is for Sprint.

No two modems can be active concurrently under one plan.
Essentially, the lest half of your last sentence is correct.

Just use one modem. You can use Internet connection sharing and an adhoc wifi connection to essentially turn the laptop that has the Sprint card into a hotspot. It's only got a range of about 30-50 feet, but it works great.

http://cnettv.cnet.com/make-your-laptop-hot-spot/9742-1_53-28619.html there is a video from CNET's site explaining how to do it.
