I am ready to jump on the band wagon. I just purchased the brand new Gateway LT series netbook (has 2 miniPCI slots; one occupied for wifi).

This laptop was never intended to have a builtin EVO card, so I'm not sure there's a builtin antenna. However, I'm guessing the PCI mini slots are 100% standard slots.

Anyway, I have read that a couple of older models (Novatel Merilin u720 and AC595U) have been used in the past.

I'd like to know what's the latest popular one to get FOR SPRINT. Should I get it from Dell? A mini-pci modem in a USB enclosure (and opened up)?

Will the modem work if I dont have an antenna in the laptop meant for EVDO; I think I only have an antenna for wifi? Can someone also please point me to the respective drivers for Vista/XP for the modem that's recommended?

Thanks a million!!

I know there's a lot of knowledable people on this forum. Sorry to sound impatient, but could someone please help answer some questions?

My laptop was never prewired for EVDO. I have two mini PCI slots. One with my Wifi/bluetooth card (which I dont want to touch) and one slot that I want to use for this. However, I'm not sure what to do about the antenna.

Do I somehow splice the WIFI antenna for my netbook to be shared between the EVDO card and the WIFI card? (Both cards are next to each other). Or do I somehow use the antenna from the U720 that I'm going to take apart?

Thanks so much,
MKANET
