Does it use the driver for your EVDO device from your computer? Or is the driver built into the firmware of the router?

Yes the "driver" is contained within the router...your computer 'sees' it as a wireless access point, just as it would at a coffee house etc that provides internet access to their customers...

The router takes care of all the things the connection manager would typically do, all you have to do is connect with WiFi or Ethernet and enjoy the internet access.

It makes it so you don't have to mess with drivers and software, and you can connect it to just about anything out there with an Ethernet or WiFi connection.
