I also received my second Cradlepoint MBR1000 router this week. It has the same bad range as the other I sent back. I have tried changing the channels, moving the router, and turning things off. None of this seems to make a difference. Granted I have a big house with icynene foam insulation, but my 5 year old linksys G router has way more range (4-5 bars throughout most of my house) than compared to my N router when placed in the same room. I even locked the router and wireless card into N mode only, and still the same bad signal. My computer guy is bringing over his linksys N router for a side by side comparison. Most of the hardware is cheap stuff from China, and maybe I am unlucky and got two bad Cradlepoint routers.

Interesting that we are having the same issue. I wonder if they changed any manufacturing parts recently?

A brand new ASUS laptop. The wireless card will pick up b, g, or n. I moved the cradlepoint router upstairs with nothing plugged into it just to see what kind of signal I could get. I can get 4-5 bars when 20' or closer. After that, signal drops off dramatically. My linksys g router which I have plugged into an ethernet jack upstairs gets 4-5 bars throughout my house and even 3 bars on the outside porch. I don't think it is an interference issue since our phone and baby monitor are on different frequencies. My computer guy is going to bring over his linksys n router and I am going to test the two side by side.

I have two mbr1000 routers -- also in a church and another in the home. I too have found the range of both routers to be less than the previous belkin pre-n I used. A direct line from church to parsonage is approx. 100 feet. The belkin allowed a connection with this range -- the cradlepoint barely makes a connection.
