| Looks like your choices are limited at this point...I actually complained to VTS so much they offered to let me out of my contract without penalty...before I decided what to do mine started working and have had no problem for months...I think Verizon was upgrading something locally and TS hasnt a clue...my signal is much stronger now and I actually saw a 2.6 M dl spike a few days ago...briefly but it happened....best of luck..I KNOW how frustrating it is... |

In Vista there is no power Management Tab.
So I am not able to use your tip. |

Ko4qc there is a power management tab in vista. the one i've got anyway, i think i have home pro. go to control panel, phone and modem options, modems tab, highlight your usb modem, properties, then in the bottom left corner click change settings, then you'll see the power management tab.
anyway, mine did great for a day, now it's powering off again 4 or 5 times a day........makes no sense!! _________________ Keven |

I am having the same exact problem with the USB 727 powering off continually. I have contacted Verizon on numerous occastions and currently am on the 3rd modem they sent me. The service had worked great when I first got it, and then about 6 months later the powering off started... Tech support has been no help. I am very frustrated as this is my only internet option where we live.. I tried the power management thing awhile back, and it had no effect...
If anyone figures something out I would love to hear it! |

I'll have to add to the list of folks having this problem. My USB727 was plugged into my Cradlepoint CTR350 since last November and we had an "always on" internet connection.
Around the beginning of June I started losing the connection about once a day. Power cycling the CTR350 would sometimes bring it back right away but I noticed that my RSSI had gone up to the mid-upper -80s so I thought it was a signal strength problem due to tree growth/leaves. I replaced my yagi antenna with a grid and brought the RSSI down but I still get occasional disconnects where I have un-plug and re-plug the 727. _________________ WVBill |

Question for the 3Gstore folks: Does the MBR1000 deliver more electrical power to the USB modem port than a CTR350? _________________ WVBill |

As a follow up to my previous posting... I have tried using the USB 727 in a different computer. It had not had any windows updates in two years (computer is 5 years old, but has not been used in about 2 years). Anyway, it worked great for 2 days, no powering down at all after much use. I decided to just keep using this computer and decided to do all the windows xp updates. Well, now the powering down has started again. It must be a windows update that has caused all these problems, especially since the first modem worked great for a few months after getting it. It must have started acting this way after a windows xp update!
Now where do I go from here? After just a little research I did find an article about Windows Vista update causing some problems with USB devices, but no real help there.
Any ideas? |

I think it DEFINATELY has something to do with windows!!!!! I've had my mbr-1000 since friday and not one disconnect!!!!! Since it's not connected directly to the pc, no probs!! Looks like that is the only way to get rid of the prob. get a wireless router........expensive fix. I needed the router to play my wii and xbox online. _________________ Keven |

The MBR has a 5V 2Amp supply to the three USB ports. Each individual port is fused at 1.1Amps
The CTR350 uses the 5V from the wall adapter and is fused at 0.75 Amps _________________ - Victor |

| I would like to reopen this thread. I am still having this power down problem. I have the problem on an xp and vista pc. The only way I can keep power on the 727 is to disconnect from Verizon and shut down the VZmanager application. If I do this the modem will stay powered up. To get on line I start VZmanager and connect. My modem will power down several times in a session. |

FYI - Mine will power down once in a while. I noticed that when the signal gets very very weak (one to no bars) - it tends to shut down. |
