So far the only thing I don't like about the MiFi is the charger. It is an extra-wide wall-wart style so takes lots of space there, and has a thick, stiff cable. I have a new phone too which also uses the micro-a with an even thicker cable for data and charging.

1A switchers shouldn't be that difficult, nor a charging "cradle" or at least a connector that isn't as thick if not thicker than the MiFi itself.

Anyone have an "elegant" solution?

Why not get one of those charging stations that looks like a jewelry box or TV remote holder, with a place inside for the wall warts? I have one that's home to my BlackBerry, Zune and Bluetooth earpiece, and there's still plenty of room for the MiFi.

Since everything uses a USB cable, I just threw a powered hub in the charging station and am running cables.

Since the MiFi uses a standard Micro USB cable, you can find a shorter one at monoprice.com

I want something I can take with me on the road. That box is larger than my laptop. My laptop is smaller than that box.

If it's micro-usb you're looking for, grab a usb->micro usb cable and pick up a iphone power adapter...they're probably the smallest transformer I've seen in a while. You can also pick up a car usb adapter.

Then, if you have other stuff you need to charge on the road, you can pick up an iGo usb adapter plus the appropriate power tips.

Or, if you're bringing a laptop, you can pick up the iGo usb adapter with a micro-usb tip. It provides only power, and no data, so it should charge most devices. Then you don't even have to worry about a wall transformer.

You didn't say anything about portability. I wouldn't drag something like that with me, either.

The wall wart that came with my MiFi went into my shaving kit because it folds flat and the Micro USB charger works with my BlackBerry, too.

Since most cellphone manufacturers have agreed to adopt MicroUSB ports as a universal standard, there should be a gazillion choices out there. I bought a couple very tiny MicroUSB chargers from Monoprice for about two bucks apiece, which don't seem to deliver enough voltage for my BlackBerry but might work with the MiFi.

The only annoyance with iGo tips is the price - $10 (and I probably need a Y so I can do my cell phone too, so that is $30). And the tips aren't that compact.

The apple USB is compact but expensive. I have some cheap knock-offs coming from dealxtreme which I will try when they arrive.

What I'm hoping to find soon is a USB to micro adapter - without the cable. I have several mini-Bs and can put them in the charge-adapter and the phone or gps or whatever just stays above it.

I already have a number of 2 inch mini to micro cables (for my Nokia tablet), so I'm using them in the interim.
