For a recent article called "A Day in the Life of 3G", PCWorld arranged for 5443 individual tests from 283 testing locations within Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Denver, New Orleans, New York City, Orlando (Florida), Phoenix, Portland (Oregon), San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, and Seattle.

Their testing pronounced Verizon Wireless provided the fastest average mobile broadband speed over Sprint and AT&T.

Depending on the coverage in ones area any one of them can be faster/stronger/better than the other.

In MY area (and I have both Verizon and Sprint modems/service) Verizon does indeed have faster speeds and lower latency. This is with a grid antenna for both (800MHz and 1900MHz). Verizon tower is 4.5 miles distant and Sprint is 1.1 Verizon wins on all counts. But, I still think Sprint is a more forward-thinking company Smile
