My Mifi's menu only had four buttons for the last few days, the "Advanced" button disappeared under Firefox. It was there (using the web developer extension to outline table cells showed a zero-width entry which would activate the popup), just zero pixels wide.

The Mifi uses a span tag in the html for the setup screen.
Code:
<td onmouseover="menuOn('adv')" onmouseout="menuOff('adv')">
<span id="adv">Advanced</span>

The problem is that Ad Block Plus considers id="adv" to be a probable advertisment and will set the style to not display it.

I don't know if any other ad blocking systems would have the same problem, but this one is very hard to find since the html code is right and the source of the disappearance isn't clear.

The simple solution is to whitelist the Mifi's IP address.

hey, thanks. except I can't see the adblock plus icon when I'm in the mifi config, which seems to take up an entire window. so I just disabled abp when I wanted to use the advanced screen. anyway, i'm really glad you posted, because I couldn't figure out where the heck that advanced screen had gone.

You probably have "collapse blockable items" or whatever it is called enabled like I do so it would go to a zero-width zero-height entry. I found it with the web developer extension asking it to outline tables, and the border became clickable. I reported the info to Verizon tech support (who was as confused as I was), and eventually it should get back to Novatel. But with the issue reported, if they get another call they should be able to identify the problem very quickly.

I don't know how they would update the firmware on the device if they did fix it.
